About NorCal SEPA Workshop Leader

Sharlisa Byrd, LMFT, is a certified Clinical Traumatologist and Compassion Fatigue Therapist. She is currently training in Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing BIPOC Partitioner program, In order to become a certified somatic experiencing practitioner. She currently is a specialist at NOCD treating clients who suffer from OCD. She provides ERP and somatic experiencing therapy.

She has experience serving clients in domestic violence shelters, schools, community mental health, private practice, and in custody services at the Santa Clara County behavioral health. She also is an Adjunct Professor at University of San Francisco, where she teaches Cross Cultural Counseling, Substance Abuse & Addiction Counseling, Adult Development, Psychopathology counseling, Child and adolescent counseling, Assessment Counseling, and Trauma and Crisis counseling.

She has trained under Resmaa Menakem's Somatic Abolitionism, as well as various other trauma resolution modalities in service to her clients, students, and colleagues. Her life, training, and clinical experience have shown how trauma, anxiety, and depression can get stuck in our bodies. She believes in a bottom-up approach to healing. She views herself as a manufacturer of hope and healing in service to those who wish to become post-traumatic thrivers free of any unhealthy behaviors.
